These packages are not code-signed. Verify the SHA-256 checksum from the release assets before installing.

I'm adding a headless server

The Agent runs a server without a desktop: Debian 11+ or Ubuntu 22.04+ x64 with glibc 2.28 or newer. It binds loopback by default and is paired with a one-time code.

AnxOS-Agent-<version>.deb

Installs the anxos-agent.service systemd unit; the matching AnxOS-Agent-<version>.deb.sha256 file is published with it

Verification

Security and checksums

Know what is signed and what you have to verify yourself before installing.

Windows installer: signed

  • Code-signed with Azure Trusted SigningCheck the publisher on the SmartScreen prompt before you run the setup.
  • SmartScreen may still warnAnxOS is distributed directly through GitHub, so a new build can look unfamiliar. Choose More info and Run anyway only when the file came from the official release page.

Linux and Agent packages: not code-signed

  • No Linux signatureThe Linux .deb, the AppImage, and the headless Agent .deb are not code-signed.
  • Verify SHA-256 insteadCompare each package against its published checksum from the release assets before installing.
Checksum manifest
  • No checksum manifest is loaded yet.

Checksum files are published with the other assets in the official GitHub Release.

Before you install

System requirements

AnxOS itself needs modest resources; the servers and backups you run on top of it need their own space.

Windows desktop

Windows 11 x64 with administrator access during the Local Agent install. 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB or more recommended, and 2 GB free storage for the app and Agent.

Linux desktop

Debian 11+ or Ubuntu 22.04+ x64 with the same memory and storage guidance. Install packages with your distribution's package manager.

Headless server

Debian 11+ or Ubuntu 22.04+ x64 with glibc 2.28 or newer and systemd for the Agent service. The server must stay powered on and reachable when you manage it.

Servers, modpacks, and backups need additional disk space, and internet access is required for downloads, updates, and dependency installers.
